The best way to soak in the pleasures of Kufri is to take a leisurely stroll through its lush cedar woods and vibrant flower gardens. Encircled by a breathtaking scenery, Kufri is the best hill station near Delhi where you go to lose yourself in the beauty of nature. Being the starting point of many popular treks in Shimla  and hub for activities like bogganing and skiing Kufri hides many places to explore for. 1. Mahasu Peak

One of the highest points in Kufri, Mahasu Peak offers breathtaking views of Badrinath and Kedarnath ranges. Located at a distance of 13 km from Shimla, this peak is seated in heart of Kufri.  Being the highest peak in Kufri, adventure sports like hiking and trekking are practiced here. It takes a short hike from Kufri through the woods of Himalayan cedars to reach Mahasu Peak.

During ski season, the Mahasu ridge is a great spot for beginners to practice before hitting the rougher slopes. Make a pit-stop at the Nag Devta temple (the Snake God is Kufri’s local deity) when you get to the top. There is also an amusement park where one can enjoy skiing, karting, etc. Visiting Mahasu Peak during winters is amazing to make fun in the snow.
    Timings: From sunrise to sunset.
Entry fees: You can reach the peak by riding mules or horses and they can be hired at a price of INR 650.

2. Kufri Valley/ Green Valley

Feed your wanderlust with alluring beauty of Green Valley, laced with enchanting deodar and pine trees. As you go deep inside the forest, you will be welcomed by Yaks grazing the fields and innumerable variants of plantations.
Righteously named “Green Valley”, it is covered with lush green blankets of nature. Here, you can whiff the freshness of the air and dive in the tranquil surrounding of the majestic valley.

Location: Green Valley, Kufri, Himachal Pradesh

Timings: The Park is open from morning 6:00 am to evening 6:30 pm on all days.

Entry fees: There is no entry fee to enter the Valley.

3. The Himalayan Nature Park

One of the most famous tourist attractions in Kufri, the Himalayan National Park boasts of 180 species of birds and rare mammals. Situated about 18 km from Shimla, at over 2,600 metres altitude, the Himalayan Nature Park is located amidst 90 hectares of temperate vegetation that forms natural habitat for many a wild animals of the Western Himalaya.

It was established in 1984 and formally declared as a National Park in the year 1999. Spread over an area of 754.4 sq. km, it’s a large eco tourism hub where tourists from all across the world converge to witness rare species of animals like musk deer, snow leopards, etc.

One who is seeking adventure,  they may enjoy trekking, picnicking and camping in the park. Trekking is probably the best way to explore herbaceous plants and trees of the nature park and is conducted by the park rangers at Sai Ropa Tourist Center.

Besides, there are various temples that are located in the close proximity to the Himalayan National Park. If you are planning for trek in the nature park then it will last for five to eight days, and is the best way to experience the diversity offered by the Park.

Best time to visit:– April to June and November to February.
Avoid visiting Kufri Nature Park during monsoon as the area is prone to landslide.

4. Indira Tourist Park

One of the most famous tourist spots in Kufri, Indira Tourist Park is situated nearby the Great Himalayan Nature Park in Himachal Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 19 Km from Shimla and 6 Km from Fagu. Many tourists visit here to enjoy pony and yak rides in the park. It is believed that  this region  visited by Indira Gandhi for signing the Shimla Agreement with Pakistan in the year 1972 and since then this region is named as Indira Tourist Park.

The Indira Tourist Park is close to the Himalayan National Park, and offers a great deal for a calm ambience, with a good atmosphere, good food and coffee. The video game and ice-cream parlor are the highlights of this park. Children can have a good time enjoying exciting outdoor and video games in the park.

5. Kufri Fun World

Located at 2800 metres above sea level, Kufri Fun World is one of the highest amusement parks in the world. Situated amidst the snow-capped Himalayan peaks, it is one of the most beautifully situated amusement parks in the world, quite famous for its go-karting.

The go-karting track is placed on one of the highest places in the world. Music is played in here all the time. Get awestruck by the panoramic view of the encircling landscape and soothe your eyes by glancing at the boundless spreads of white.

Let your kids enjoy the joyrides and watch the happiness and excitement on their faces as they hop from one ride to the other. Relax in a cozy corner and imbibe the enthralling beauty of your surroundings.

6. Fagu

The Fagu region is situated in between two valleys surrounded by forest covers and apple orchards. Fagu is located about 6 km from Kufri at an altitude of 2,509 metres. It has a tourist bungalow on top that overlooks the Giri Valley. It is located at a distance of 6 km from Kufri and famous for its 3 Kali temples and also for being less crowded and more relaxing than  Kufri & Shimla.

The climate of Fagu is pleasant during November, making it an ideal place to laze around during the onset of winter. The small cliffs around are perfect location for photography. Those who want to pack in a little more activity can undertake the three-km-long trek till Chharabra, while others can enjoy short yak and pony rides enroute. The winter ski fests are celebrated here in the winter month of February.

7. Jakhu Temple

Jakhu Temple is a majestic temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, situated on the top of the beautiful Jakhu hill at an altitude of 2455 meters above the sea level.  It is surrounded by forest and there are many monkeys around this temple but fortunately do not attack travelers. It is few kilometers from the city of Shimla.

At a distance of 12 km from Kufri, 7 km from Shimla Railway Station, 7 km from Shimla Old Bus Stand. The temple holds several statues and paintings of Lord Hanuman as well as Lord Rama. The temple also has a pair of feet engraved in white marble which devotees believe are of Lord Hanuman.
    Timings: 8 am to 6 pm.

8. Hip Hip Hurray Amusement Park

Hip Hip Hurray, Nagsons amusement cum Adventure Park is an idyllic hideaway nestled in the laps of snow clad mountains with picturesque natural beauty in Kufri, around 16 kms. 9. Naldehra

A beautiful picturesque hill station located in the  queen of hills, Shimla is perfect location for day trip. There is an ancient Nag temple inside the golf course that is worth a visit. You can take a pony ride through the woods of Naldehra. There are plenty of places where you can sip a cup of coffee, have Maggi and drink to the view in addition the jungle area around the golf course is an excellent picnic spot. The forest area can also be covered through horse riding. Separate treks are there for the horses and they take you through some distant forest having more views of the valley and hills.

About 12 km from Naldehra is the Mashobra, a thick pine forest area and the hot sulphur springs of Tattapani is 30 km from Naldehra. The course is open throughout the year. The perfect season for golfing in Naldehra is from April to October and the best golfing months are the monsoon ones- July, August and September when the naturally watered turf is rich and springy and the yardage increases.
