Enchanted journey towards Rohtang Pass

For me mountains always have been special, as they have their own kind of magic. Magic which attracts us towards them and inspire us by showing patience, persistence and gratitude in their way. And when it comes to Himalayas you will feel that you are in paradise. I came to know all this more deeply when I visited Rohtang pass. Rohtang pass is located in the Pir Panjal Mountain Range of the Himalayas at a height of 3979 meters and distance of 51 km from Manali on the Manali- Leh Highway. It is one of the highest passes in the world and a gateway to Lahaul Spiti, Pangi and Leh valley which connects South Kullu with North Spiti valley.
This place has a charm that it keeps inviting people. The splendid view from the Rohtang will leave you awestruck. Same happened with me when I visited Rohtang in October, 2015. I am going to share my Rohtang experience with you guys. Memories of that trip still bring a smile on my face. I can still feel that cool breeze flowing through my heart. Vehicles from Manali to Rohtang pass are allowed only from 6 AM to 11 AM. We departed at 9 AM from Manali to Rohtang. Road was the most scenic road I have ever seen. As we were going close to Rohtang, winding road was becoming more scenic and scary. A drive on this route is surely an out of the world experience. That magnificent road was taking us into the world of Himalayas. We took rest in Marhi and had some snacks. As that was the last eating point before Rohtang. After 15 minutes we continued our journey. People always complaint about traffic jam on Rohtang road but that day there were only few vehicles … lucky me!!!!!
Then we reached at the Rohtang pass between the mesmerizing Snow capped mountains who accompanied us throughout the road. What a wonderful scene was it..!!!! Mountains were looking more beautiful in the sunshine. Joy of reaching there was boundless…!!
The mountainous grass was giving beautiful brownish shade after all they had faced the wide coating of snow.
In Rohtang pass weather plays hide and seek with you. You will not even know when that bright sun will go and you will be in the lap of clouds. We were walking around. Mist and clouds started to cover the mountains. Sometimes they floated above us, sometimes along us and sometimes even below us. Heavy wind started to flow. It was making too difficult for us to stand up straight there. But still I was enjoying that scenario. Mountains have its own way to share its secret. In its secret language Rohtang was also saying so many things. Nature was at its best. We took so many photographs but how can you capture that beautiful breeze. I captured all those in my heart. But still all those photographs worth million to me. Walking through that road was another level experience. And even today I can feel that breeze and that love of nature when people ask me about the Rohtang. And if you ask me whether I want to go Rohtang again then yes it is the place where I would like to go again and again. And I know beauty of that mountain will again leave me speechless. I found paradise in Rohtang and I would like to embrace it again and again..!!!
