Barot is a beautiful village located in the serene valleys of Mandi in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. This newly found tourist destination near Mandi is located just 67 kilometers away from Mandi. Every year hundreds of tourists come here to relax. There is also a high-altitude panoramic lake at a height of 14000 (4150m) feet known as Dinosaur Lake. Its believed that Lord Hanuman has stopped over this place.

There are many unique temples of local Devtas in this Valley. Barot Valley offers many opportunities to travelers who want to quench their thirst for adventure. Many trekking trails pass through this beautiful valley, including trails to Bada Bhangal, Manali, and Kullu. Tourists got attracted by the serene surroundings and cheap availability of accommodation.

Among the Adventure Lovers, this valley is quite famous because tourists can enjoy activities like trekking, fishing, camping, etc. Barot valley provides a wide range of treks, these treks take you through the cultural and scenic trails of Himachal.

Since the village is far away from the city life and located in the midst of a valley, astronomers and stargazers visit the site often for stargazing. Barot is world-famous for trout fish. Barot Village is also home to Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary. A variety of animals including Monal, Black Bear, Wildcats, Monkeys, Deer have found shelter under this sanctuary. Barot is a frequent backpacker and perfect location for day trips in Himachal.

Best Time to Visit:
Barot valley can be visited at any time of the year except in monsoons. As the valley receives heavy rainfall due to surrounding dense forests.

How To Reach Barot Valley:

Flights

You can reach here via flights to Gaggal Airport, Chandigarh Airport, and Delhi Airport. So, amongst these options, you can simply choose one of your convenience.

Train

Kathgodam at 58 km of distance is one of the nearer railway stations to Barot. So, if you’re planning to take a train your best bet is to take one till Pathankot which is 113 km away. From there you can travel by bus to reach Bir Billing and then travel by road to Barot Valley. If you cannot find a bus till Bir, take one till Mandi and from there change to one for Bir and thereafter till Barot.

Road

You can find Volvo buses to Bir Billing from Chandigarh and Delhi. You cannot find direct Volvo buses till Barot but may find local ones. After you have reached Bir travel by sharing taxi or private taxi to reach Barot.
